What if you could stop trying to be “enough” and finally rest? Today we open Ephesians 2:8–9 and sit with the scandalous truth that salvation is a gift—unearned, unboosted by our best days, and undiminished by our worst. We talk plainly about how that truth dismantles perfectionism, quiets shame, and breaks the cycle of spiritual performance that leaves so many exhausted.

I share how grace changes the story you tell yourself: from striving to belonging, from fear to trust. You’ll hear a simple reflection exercise—write one place you’ve been hustling for God’s approval, thank Him that His grace has already covered it, and then ask for strength to extend the same mercy to someone in your life. Along the way, we explore how this gift reorients identity, reshapes motives, and strengthens relationships. When you no longer need to earn worth, confession becomes honest, forgiveness becomes possible, and growth becomes sustainable.

We close with a short prayer for rest and courage, then point you to ways to keep the rhythm going with past episodes and resources. If this message lifted a weight off your shoulders, share it with someone who’s tired of performing. Subscribe for daily spiritual refreshment, leave a review to help more people find the show, and tell us: where will you choose rest over earning today?

00:01:08.159 --> 00:01:13.680
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:01:13.920 --> 00:01:14.800
I'm Rick.

00:01:15.039 --> 00:01:19.920
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:01:20.159 --> 00:01:23.680
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom.

00:01:24.000 --> 00:01:25.680
Ready to feel inspired?

00:01:25.920 --> 00:01:27.439
Let's get started.

00:01:29.439 --> 00:01:33.599
Today is day 342, the gift of grace.

00:01:33.759 --> 00:01:39.520
From Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9, from the New Living Translation.

00:01:41.759 --> 00:01:47.039
God saved you by His grace when you believed, and you can't take credit for this.

00:01:47.280 --> 00:01:48.960
It is a gift from God.

00:01:49.439 --> 00:01:55.520
Salvation is not a reward for the good things that we've done, so none of us can boast about it.

00:01:56.560 --> 00:02:00.000
Grace is one of God's most beautiful gifts.

00:02:00.240 --> 00:02:03.280
It means we receive what we don't deserve.

00:02:03.520 --> 00:02:07.280
We couldn't earn salvation, no matter how hard we tried.

00:02:07.520 --> 00:02:12.240
But God, in His mercy, gave it freely through Jesus.

00:02:12.640 --> 00:02:16.080
Grace changes how you see yourself and others.

00:02:16.319 --> 00:02:21.360
It reminds you that you're forgiven, loved, and accepted.

00:02:21.759 --> 00:02:25.919
Not because of what you've done, but because of what Christ has done.

00:02:26.479 --> 00:02:32.879
Today, what I want you to do is write down one area of your life where you've been striving to earn God's approval.

00:02:33.280 --> 00:02:37.039
Pause and thank him that his grace has already covered it.

00:02:37.680 --> 00:02:38.960
Pray with me.

00:02:39.280 --> 00:02:41.920
Lord God, thank you for the gift of grace.

00:02:42.240 --> 00:02:47.040
Help me to rest in what you've done and extend that same grace to others.

00:02:47.360 --> 00:02:49.920
I ask this in Jesus' precious name.

00:02:50.240 --> 00:02:50.879
Amen.

00:02:53.439 --> 00:02:55.520
Well, that's all for today.

00:02:55.840 --> 00:02:59.200
But I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.

00:03:25.680 --> 00:03:28.640
Until tomorrow, I'm Rick.

00:03:29.920 --> 00:03:31.200
I love you.
