Have you ever rushed into a decision only to regret it later? Today's meditation on Proverbs 19:2 addresses a timeless struggle: balancing enthusiasm with wisdom.

"Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good. Haste makes mistakes." These simple words contain profound guidance for navigating life's choices. While passion and excitement are wonderful qualities, they require the guardrails of discernment to be truly effective. When we allow enthusiasm to drive us without seeking God's wisdom first, we often create painful situations for ourselves and others.

This tension between speed and wisdom feels particularly relevant in our modern world. We're constantly encouraged to move quickly, decide faster, and act immediately. Yet the spiritual life operates on a different timeline. God rarely rushes. The divine process values growth over efficiency, maturity over shortcuts. When we pause before major decisions to ask, "Lord, is this wise? Am I rushing ahead of you?" we create space for divine guidance to emerge.

The spiritual practice of pausing isn't about indecision or fear – it's about alignment. It's recognizing that wisdom doesn't skip the waiting or cut corners. By slowing down our impulses and seeking clarity through prayer, we protect ourselves from preventable regrets and position ourselves to walk in step with God's perfect timing. Next time you face a significant choice, remember that the time you take to seek Him will ultimately save you from running ahead of His best plan for your life. Join us tomorrow as we continue exploring practical wisdom for living a life of faith and purpose.

00:00:19.466 --> 00:00:21.065
Let's get started.

00:00:21.065 --> 00:00:28.266
Today is Day 218, wisdom Over Impulse.

00:00:28.266 --> 00:00:38.746
From Proverbs, chapter 19, verse 2, from the New Living Translation Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good.

00:00:39.529 --> 00:00:41.012
Haste makes mistakes.

00:00:41.012 --> 00:00:52.384
Enthusiasm is great, but when it drives us to act before we seek God's wisdom, it can lead to painful mistakes.

00:00:52.384 --> 00:00:58.075
Passion needs direction, excitement needs discernment.

00:00:58.075 --> 00:01:03.930
We live in a culture that praises speed, but God rarely rushes.

00:01:03.930 --> 00:01:08.281
He values the process because the process grows you.

00:01:09.382 --> 00:01:11.227
Wisdom doesn't skip the waiting.

00:01:11.227 --> 00:01:14.754
It doesn't cut corners to get quick results.

00:01:14.754 --> 00:01:31.980
Before you make a big decision and say yes to a major commitment or speak words that you can't take back, pause, ask God for clarity.

00:01:31.980 --> 00:01:34.703
The time you take to seek him will protect you from regrets later.

00:01:34.703 --> 00:01:38.987
So, before making any significant choice today, stop and pray.

00:01:38.987 --> 00:01:41.512
Say Lord, is this wise?

00:01:41.512 --> 00:01:47.055
Am I rushing ahead of you If he brings a sense of pause?

00:01:47.055 --> 00:01:47.656
Lord, is this wise?

00:01:47.656 --> 00:01:49.037
Am I rushing ahead of you If he brings a sense of pause?

00:01:49.037 --> 00:01:50.977
Wait, don't move until he gives peace.

00:01:50.977 --> 00:01:55.183
Pray with me, lord.

00:01:55.183 --> 00:01:58.067
God, slow me down when I want to act on impulse.

00:01:58.067 --> 00:02:01.274
Teach me to value wisdom over speed.

00:02:01.274 --> 00:02:10.885
Help me to listen to your voice before I make a move, so I can walk in step with you In Jesus' precious name, amen.

00:02:10.885 --> 00:02:18.080
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
