What does it mean to truly hold on to Jesus' teachings? Today we explore the profound connection between embracing truth and experiencing genuine freedom through John 8:31-32: "If you hold on to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free."

Truth isn't something we casually encounter—it's something we must cling to with determination. In our current cultural landscape of shifting opinions, emotional arguments, and customized morality, staying firmly rooted in biblical truth feels increasingly countercultural. Yet this radical commitment to truth is precisely what unlocks authentic spiritual freedom. The subtle danger isn't outright rejection of faith but the gradual loosening of our grip through small compromises and rationalizations.

When we truly hold fast to truth—even when it challenges our comfort or contradicts popular opinion—we develop immunity to deception and experience liberation that transcends circumstances. This freedom doesn't depend on external validation or changing situations; it's an unshakable foundation that sustains us through life's challenges. Though truth may initially offend our flesh, its transformative power creates the genuine freedom we deeply desire. Don't just admire or study truth—live in it completely. Let your roots grow deep in God's Word and experience the freedom that comes only through unwavering commitment to his teachings. 00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.394
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:07.394 --> 00:00:08.762
I'm Rick.

00:00:08.762 --> 00:00:13.653
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.653 --> 00:00:19.484
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.484 --> 00:00:21.070
Let's get started.

00:00:23.460 --> 00:00:33.887
Today is Day 174, rooted in Truth from the Gospel of John, chapter 8, verses 31 and 32, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:33.887 --> 00:00:39.851
If you hold on to my teaching, you are really my disciples.

00:00:39.851 --> 00:00:43.970
Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

00:00:43.970 --> 00:00:50.207
Truth isn't just something you believe, it's something that you cling to.

00:00:50.207 --> 00:00:54.530
Jesus said, real disciples hold to his teaching.

00:00:54.530 --> 00:00:58.310
They don't just visit it when life is hard, they live in it.

00:00:59.701 --> 00:01:19.003
In a world of shifting opinions and emotional arguments, customized morality, staying rooted in truth can feel radical, but it's the only way to be free, not just emotionally free, but spiritually grounded, immune to deception and anchored in light.

00:01:19.003 --> 00:01:24.490
The enemy doesn't need to get you to reject Jesus, to pull you off course.

00:01:24.490 --> 00:01:40.912
He just needs you to loosen your grip on truth, to start saying things like well, god understands when you really mean I want to do it my own way, or that's not really a big deal when it clearly contradicts his word.

00:01:40.912 --> 00:01:56.843
Truth will offend your flesh before it transforms your life, but when you plant your roots in it, you'll start to grow in freedom, real freedom, the kind that doesn't depend on circumstances or applause, and that's what you want.

00:01:56.843 --> 00:02:01.489
So don't just study the truth, don't just admire it.

00:02:01.489 --> 00:02:05.774
Hold it, live it, be rooted in it.

00:02:05.774 --> 00:02:10.342
Pray with me, jesus.

00:02:10.342 --> 00:02:12.370
Your truth sets me free.

00:02:12.370 --> 00:02:18.733
Help me to hold to it when it's hard, when it's unpopular, when my feelings say otherwise.

00:02:18.733 --> 00:02:28.489
Keep my roots deep in your word and let it be the standard for every decision that I make In your precious name, amen.

00:02:28.489 --> 00:02:36.393
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's word.
