Have you ever felt completely unmoored, questioning your worth and identity as the chaos of life swirls around you? Today's episode offers a spiritual anchor in these turbulent waters.

Drawing from Romans 8:15-16, we explore the profound difference between living as fearful slaves versus embracing our identity as God's beloved children. This isn't just theological theory—it's practical truth for those weeks when everything feels off-kilter and you're struggling to remember who you really are.

The heart of today's message challenges the common foundations where we mistakenly plant our identities: performance metrics, perfectionist standards, and perhaps most dangerous of all, other people's opinions. When our self-worth depends on text messages, recognition, or applause, we subject ourselves to an emotional roller coaster that never stops.

God offers something radically different. He doesn't label you as "almost enough" or "trying hard"—He simply calls you daughter (or son). This identity remains unchanging whether you're thriving in your best season or barely surviving your worst. The freedom in this truth is breathtaking: you don't have to earn this relationship; you simply receive it and grow within its security.

Today, allow your roots to grow deep into soil that won't shift beneath you. Remember that daughters stand tallest when they know exactly who their Father is. Join us every weekend for more spiritual nourishment that grounds your identity in unchanging truth rather than fleeting circumstances.

Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, Ready to feel inspired.

00:00:18.324 --> 00:00:19.929
Let's get started.

00:00:19.929 --> 00:00:21.763
And now.

00:00:21.763 --> 00:00:23.388
Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:25.740 --> 00:00:28.791
Today is Day 165, rooted in identity.

00:00:28.791 --> 00:00:34.072
We'll be in Romans, chapter 8, verses 15 through 16 from the New Living Translation.

00:00:34.072 --> 00:00:39.770
So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves.

00:00:39.770 --> 00:00:43.951
Instead, you received God's spirit when he adopted you as his own children.

00:00:43.951 --> 00:00:49.969
Hey, it's Saturday, and welcome to Weekends with Lauren.

00:00:51.081 --> 00:01:00.451
Have you ever had one of those weeks where you just feel off, like everything's swirling around you and you're not quite sure where you stand or even who you are?

00:01:00.451 --> 00:01:04.150
Trust me, I've been there, and more than once at that.

00:01:04.150 --> 00:01:09.745
That's why I love this reminder from Romans we aren't slaves to fear.

00:01:09.745 --> 00:01:13.072
We are children of God and we belong.

00:01:13.072 --> 00:01:18.632
That truth doesn't change based on how emotional we feel or how chaotic life gets.

00:01:18.632 --> 00:01:24.888
When your heart is rooted in your identity as God's daughter, it changes how you face everything else.

00:01:24.888 --> 00:01:37.323
But here's the thing your identity can't grow deep if it's planted in performance or perfection or people's opinions yes, people's opinions.

00:01:37.323 --> 00:01:46.176
If we're rooting our worth in whether they text us back, notice our efforts or applaud our obedience, we'll constantly be uprooted.

00:01:46.176 --> 00:01:50.084
God doesn't call you almost enough.

00:01:50.084 --> 00:01:57.524
He calls you daughter, and he says it in every season when you're thriving or just surviving.

00:01:57.524 --> 00:02:03.590
So today, take a breath, let your roots go deep into this truth.

00:02:03.590 --> 00:02:06.515
You are loved, you are chosen.

00:02:07.155 --> 00:02:07.775
You are his.

00:02:07.775 --> 00:02:17.206
You don't have to earn it, just receive it and grow in it, because daughters stand tall when they know who their father is.

00:02:17.206 --> 00:02:21.921
Let's pray, father.

00:02:21.921 --> 00:02:23.628
Thank you for calling me your daughter.

00:02:23.628 --> 00:02:29.003
Help me root my identity in your truth, not my feelings or my performance.

00:02:29.003 --> 00:02:33.274
Remind me who I am when the world tries to define me differently.

00:02:33.274 --> 00:02:37.009
Anchor my heart in your love today Amen.

00:02:37.009 --> 00:02:40.362
That's all for now.
