Day 119 Living Hope | 1 Peter 1:3-7

Day 119 Living Hope | 1 Peter 1:3-7

Have you ever wondered why hardship seems to find even those with the strongest faith? Today we dive deep into Peter's powerful message of "living hope" from 1 Peter 1:3-7, exploring how trials serve a divine purpose in our spiritual journey.

Just as athletes train rigorously for competition or musicians practice tirelessly for performances, our faith requires intentional strengthening to withstand life's challenges. Peter doesn't sugarcoat the reality of suffering—instead, he reframes it as a refining process. Like gold tested in fire, our faith emerges more precious and pure through difficulties. The early Christians facing persecution needed this perspective, and so do we in our modern struggles.

What makes Peter's message revolutionary is the promise of an inheritance "kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond reach of change and decay." This eternal promise transforms how we experience temporary trials. Rather than avoiding hardship or questioning God's goodness, we're called to practice praise as spiritual training. By deliberately cultivating gratitude and worship now, we develop the spiritual muscles needed to stand firm when challenges arise. This isn't toxic positivity—it's strategic spiritual preparation rooted in resurrection hope.

00:00:02.564 --> 00:00:07.394
Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance.

00:00:07.394 --> 00:00:08.762
I'm Rick.

00:00:08.762 --> 00:00:13.653
Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges.

00:00:13.653 --> 00:00:19.489
Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom, ready to feel inspired.

00:00:19.489 --> 00:00:21.019
Let's get started.

00:00:21.019 --> 00:00:24.774
Let's get started.

00:00:32.359 --> 00:00:34.390
Today is day 119, living Hope.

00:00:34.390 --> 00:00:36.579
From 1 Peter, chapter 1, verses 3 through 7, from the New Living Translation.

00:00:36.579 --> 00:00:38.462
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

00:00:38.462 --> 00:00:43.853
It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

00:00:43.853 --> 00:01:07.510
Now we live with a great expectation and we have a priceless inheritance, an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond reach of change and decay, and through your faith, god is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

00:01:07.510 --> 00:01:10.007
So be truly glad.

00:01:10.007 --> 00:01:15.569
There is a wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.

00:01:15.569 --> 00:01:18.709
These trials will show that your faith is genuine.

00:01:18.709 --> 00:01:26.269
It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold, though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.

00:01:26.269 --> 00:01:35.792
So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on that day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

00:01:35.792 --> 00:01:46.051
Now these words from Peter remind me of the importance of training, whether it's for sports, music, drama or dance.

00:01:46.051 --> 00:01:53.534
Anyone who's ever practiced for a game or a performance knows that the goal is to be ready when the big moment comes.

00:01:55.001 --> 00:02:01.013
Peter is giving early Christians in the Roman Empire the kind of encouragement that you'd hear from a coach or a mentor.

00:02:01.013 --> 00:02:08.341
His message Get ready, stay ready, keep your eyes on the hope that we have in Jesus.

00:02:08.341 --> 00:02:17.526
Even though life may be hard, god's mercy has given us a new birth and a living hope, something no trial or hardship can ever take away.

00:02:17.526 --> 00:02:21.846
Now Peter knew that many believers were going to go through tough times.

00:02:21.846 --> 00:02:26.021
His answer wasn't to avoid hardship or pretend everything was fine.

00:02:26.021 --> 00:02:39.963
Instead, he reminded them of their spiritual inheritance, something pure, eternal and promised by God, and he encouraged them to strengthen their faith through praise and trust in the midst of trials.

00:02:39.963 --> 00:02:49.306
When life gets difficult, our natural response might be frustration or doubt, but Peter encourages us to train our hearts to praise.

00:02:49.306 --> 00:02:57.532
Just like physical training builds strength, spiritual training through worship prepares us to stand firm when challenges come.

00:02:57.532 --> 00:03:04.108
So here's the tip for the day Practice praising God right now.

00:03:04.108 --> 00:03:08.602
Tip for the day Practice praising God right now.

00:03:08.602 --> 00:03:11.829
Build those spiritual muscles so that when hard times come, you're ready to stand strong in living hope.

00:03:11.829 --> 00:03:13.853
Pray with me.

00:03:13.853 --> 00:03:18.126
Thank you, lord, for the hope we have in Jesus.

00:03:18.126 --> 00:03:24.487
Help me train my heart through praise so I can stand firm in faith no matter what comes.

00:03:24.487 --> 00:03:25.731
Amen.

00:03:25.731 --> 00:03:33.212
Well, that's all for today, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word.
